Aelita Parizek works mostly in silicone and slime, with adjacent video and performance pieces. The work is never complete until activated by another body through touch or physical proximity. Some buzzwords and phrases related to Aelita’s work are sex, abjection, attraction / repulsion, queer intimacy / collectivity, trans embodiment, animacy, and haptology.
In response to a wearable pock-marked silicone piece Aelita wore at a party in Brooklyn last year, a stranger made a comment which succinctly articulates the artist’s goals and desires:
”I love your outfit– it makes me want to tear all my skin off.”
